Organized Water Training Session

Organized training session where club boat will be available for use.  7 am - 11 am at Chatfield State Park/Main Reservoir off Killdeer Parking Lot.

You must register and pay in advance in the store at COPWDC.com.  Registration will be limited except for the September 8th session. 

To allow everyone ample opportunity for the August practices please choose one date or the other.

There will be no refunds issued following registration.  As stated above, sessions will be held from 7 - 11 a.m. Please remember that weather can be a factor. 

As you know, it takes a village to train a Portuguese Water Dog so please remember that everyone is expected to stay for the entire session, assist with setup and take-down of the equipment and provide support to other participants.  FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF PRIVILEGE FOR FUTURE ORGANIZED TRAININGS.

Parking will be in the Killdeer Parking Lot.  Please plan to bring the following:  your executed practice permit, high reward treats, drinking water for you and your dog, sunscreen, hat, a chair, a crate, a buckle collar, a water harness, a non-retractable leash, a floating line (15-25 minimum), any water gear you have and a positive attitude!  A life jacket and closed-toe shoes are required for all handlers - NO EXCEPTIONS!

Fall Picnic

When: Sunday, October 12th, Noon to 3:00pm (rain date October 19th).

Where: Kathy and Dick Hugs' home, 9078 E. Summit Road in Parker.

We will have a pot luck. The Club will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs. Please plan to bring a dish to share. Well-behaved dogs are invited.

Water Camp with Karen (Courier/ Masters)

The COPWDC is pleased to announce that PWDCA Water Trial Judge Karen Pratt will be holding a water camp for COPWDC members only on Sunday June 29 at Chatfield State Park for Courier and Masters level dogs.

Karen will start and finish each day, regardless of level, with a group discussion.  Questions are encouraged! In between group sessions each dog handler will have 2 x 15 minute sessions.

Please RSVP and pay in advance at COPWDC.com.  Deadline to register is midnight June 14, 2025. Registration will be limited to 12 dogs.  There will be no refunds issued following registration.

If you have not done so already please see the Practice Permit and Liability Release Forms for the Gravel Pond/Chatfield Reservoir linked here.  Please sign and email the signed forms to Vernita Hare at vernhare@gmail.com.  Vernita will countersign where appropriate and return the fully executed page which you can substitute for the page with just your signature to you via email.  YOU MUST KEEP AN EXECUTED COPY OF THE PRACTICE PERMIT AND LIABILITY RELEASE FORM IN YOUR VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES IN CASE THE PARK RANGER ASKS FOR IT!
